sw5-012 aspire switch'

I did the back up of the recovery partition. It took about 6.2gb.  No option to remove the recovery partition.  I tried some other method using command prompts and it would not allow it either.

What gives?  I need that 6.2 gb back for other things.

I want to install both dropbox and spideroak hive to access some files between pcs.  If I install those on my C drive, there will not more gb left!

I read somewhere that the recovery partition may not be removable on this device.  That would not be good.  I need my precious gbs.

You can’t remove the partition because it is “WIMboot”. Most tablets running Windows 8.1 use this. Here is a short explanation:

I read somewhere that Acer would fix it if you send the tablet to them.  Not sure if that is true.

So removing the recovery partition is out unless you want to install another version of windows 8.1 or do some other "magic".

Aside from removing unwanted apps and programs, what can be done to get to over 10 gb of space?  I know not to store photos, music and documents on the system memory.  I know I can get a micro sd card and have lots more.

Can anyone recommend a best practices tutorial?  How to get the most out of a 32gb Acer Aspire Switch 10.  That would be great and many kudos to whomever can write such a guide....

The SD Card is the best solution. Change your folder locations to it. Such as document, pictures, music, and downloads. I moved my Onedrive to the SD Card. Then, I moved documents etc. to Onedrive. When you install programs you can change the path to the SD Card. Windows (metro) apps will not allow this in 8.1.

I did install an 8gb micro sd card because it was what i had on hand. Probably get a 16 or 32 later.

Will I have to do the entire set up agsin for the new sd card?

I also set up new library locations on the sd for document, pictures, music and videos. Then. I made the sd the default save location for those thpes of files.  I found a 'how to' tutorial online. I will try to find it and post a link.  Moving the OneDrive to the sd was pretty straight forward. All of it took about 30 mins and that included me feading the instructions twice.

    Working great right now.

Not goint to have much space left. I use 2 USB flash drives, one (8GB) for system recovery and a second, the same size as the SSD, for a system image backup (cannot be the same drive). These I put in a ziplok with a note on what they are and any passwords, in a safe place I will not forget.

Then I add a 64GB (cheap now) microSD for a D drive and put all data there.

    Just a suggestion.
