Acer Predator AG3-605-UR1C Nvidia GTX 745 freezes

I recently purchased an Acer Predator AG3-605-UR1C and the video constantly freezes when I play games. I've updated the driver for the Nvidia GTX 745 card that was included with my computer and that doesn't seem to be resolving the issue. Has anyone else encountered this problem and if so, what can be done to correct it?

right click on desktop, choose nvidia control panel, manage 3D settings, on global settings scroll down, select  Power management mode and put it in Maximum performance

    click Apply

    try again with a game.

if it still freeze, please try to report if any error appears.

PS: give an update to chipset drivers too if any available.

Still having the issue. This is very discouraging as I just purchased this computer a month ago and I can't seem to do anything without the video card freezing. Quickly losing faith in Acer and Nvidia.

Can you try a benchmark software?

    https://unigine.com/products/heaven/download/

    and see if it freezes.

before starting the test install Afterburner to check GPU temperature:

if it freezes with temperature around 80°C/176°F, it's GPU ram or its processor issue.

Please contact your seller or Acer support service.

Thanks again. I just ran the test and it maxed temp at 78C which is way too high.  The fact that I purchased this PC for gaming as that's how Acer marketed it, has me concerned. I thought they would've tested the mobo, cpu and graphics card to ensure that it could support gaming but it seems like they didn't.

78°c is not high, the GPU can reach 90°c without issues.

Did your PC freeze durint benchmark?

Ok, not good since i expected a freeze under heavy use.

those freezes give any error on screen?

    what's your drivers version?

I was hoping for a freeze as well. I'm currently using the NVIDIA 344.75 driver which is the latest version and I also rolled back to the 337.88 hoping that would be more stable but no luck there so I just reinstalled the latest again.

The only error given when the screen freezes is the generic "Display Driver Has Stopped Responding".

The last thing before contacting Acer support service, is to do a factory refresh to default.
Start acer erecovery and select to re-install the OS, just do a backup of all your personal data.

Then retry without updating drivers, if it still freeze, contact Acer.

Just an FYI, I contacted Acer Support and they recommended that I install the video driver listed on the products webpage. I tried that and still got an error so now I'm going to take your advice, and restore my system to the factory settings without installing any drivers. If that doesn't work, I'll need to get rid of this system and buy a new one.

Well. I reset my system to the factory settings and I'm still having the same issue. Just to provide a little more information, I've attached pics of what happens to my screen when it freezes. Screen Freeze 1Screen Freeze 2

Sent the system back to Acer, never received a notice stating the identified issues or resolution so I spoke with a support person. They stated that according to the techs records they updated my BIOS and that should fix the issue. I asked if they were able to replicate my issue and then confirm that the BIOS upgrade fixed the problem. The phone support rep stated they did and that everything works. Well after receiving my computer back on Thursday, guess what happened? That's right, it just frooze again will playing World of Warcraft and today was the first day, I've actually been able to play so Acer doesn't seem to have resolved the issue. Any suggestions on the next steps I can take?

Contact Acer support again and put a printed doc with your issue description on the box.

Just wanted to provide an update. So I sent the system back to Acer and they were unable to identify and resolve the problem.  Since they couldn't fix the issue, they offered to replace it with another computer, which I received two days ago. Since then I have been gaming non-stop on the system as a way of testing it and I'm happy to say no issue thus fair. Maybe I got a bad computer or a bad graphics card but the new one seems to be performing just fine.  Thanks for all the feedback

I too am having the same issue. I have run all sorts of diagnostics and what have you but I am not all that computer savy and I know a little here and there but not enough to figure out a solution to this problem.

I think I have pinpointed the problem and I am relatively sure that it is with the GPU. I have used Afterburner to check the temp but it only gets up to about 90 degrees C which isnt bad for a computer. I then proceeded to look online for solutions and I found the "Nvidia Control Panel Solutions". Unfortunatley it still freezes. I downloaded TechPowerUp GPU sensor that tracks the status on my GPU every second and when it freezes I notice the Memory and Core clocks go from idle speed, start to spike, and then Max out until the freezing is fixed. Sometimes the computer comes back, sometimes it resets itself, and other times it just stays frozen for upwards of 15min and I have to do a force restart. I currently have everything backed up becuase...well...why wouldn't you. I dont think acer is going to help me too much. I'm currently in the process of getting to a guy I know who is a genius about this kind of stuff. If he cant fix it then I will be sending it back to acer. If he does find the problem thought, I will be sure to mention it on here. I have been dealing with this problem since November, it seemed as if no one understood my pain but now I see there are others who have been there. Misery Loves Company.
