Acer Liquid E700 problem with headphone jack, not working properly.

Here I am again, what a surprise! Reporting another problem with my 2 month old ACER LIQUID E700. Now the problem is, the headphone jack isnt working properly. When I watch movies, or play music with a headphone or earphone, the dialogue or conversations during movies , or the lyrics sang when playing music, can barely be heard. Also , everytime I connect my earphone it the E700, theres a fast ticking sound, which is faint but you can really hear it, and thats when I realized something was wrong.

P.S This phone was never dropped or gotten wet. Im really starting to regret buying an acer phone.

Any acer representatives out there who know whats going on?

have you tried using other headphones? If the problem persists, have your phone checked, that should be covered by warranty.

    Hi there!

Same problem here. Actually, I have already changed two phones and today again, the same problem has occurred. I bought the phone in September and after like 14 days I had it reclaimed because of the same - the jack was damaged. I was waiting for more than month until they gave me NEW phone even if i wanted them to repare it. OK. So I thought it was only some bug on my model but today I've made myself sure that it must be some kind of manufacturing defect. I really let me down because otherwise is the phone great. So this time I try the acer support and if it happens for the third time I deffinitely buy another phone.

And if you look at the phone, I mean the jack, do you see some black dots in it? Because I have noticed it before and I guess those might be some little cracks in the material ...

I got my E700 a while ago and after about 3 weeks I have exactly same issue. (I experienced the clicking sound as well and what I call the "intrumental"-effect, seems like one of te connectors is not touching the inside metal plate)

Is there a DIY-solution for that?

I did read about people replacing the phone and getting new ones broken again so it seems like Acer is rather not competent enough to solve the issue.

I was wondering if little glue or something would fix that (it just seems loose on the depth axis when you look at the screen) but I did not find a guide to opening up (taking apart) the phone yet, to get to the 3.5mm socket at all.

I am not quite willing to wait a month to replace the phone just to get a new model and wait till it brakes as well...

It is a real shame, it seemed too perfect.

    HI,

also here in Italy my phone after only 1 month has the same problem :-/ I hear the music if I push the jack of the phone, but when I leave it sound go in distorsion and when I do not use any app there is a little noise in background. Of course no crash, water and so on. I ordered it from amazon, very bad esperience with this Acer. It's the fist phone that has worked well for only 1 month. I've some nokias of 6/7 years ago that works fine.

Same here. The phone is 3 months old.

Time to book in a repair. (2 Acer items owned: 2 going in for repair. Hmmm.)

Well airstrike2014, I do know how it happened to me, it's weird but definitely how it happened, so I was downloading a electrical razor app to scare my friends (I know, it's stupid, but anyway) and the app works by vibrating at full power and playing a electric razor sound, but it would only vibrate (and the app description said that it would make some sounds too) and I tried maxing out my sound but there was really no way to make it play any sounds. I got tired of it 5 mins later and uninstalled thinking the problem was in the app or something, but I go watch a YouTube video right after and no sound was coming out either, even with the volume maxed out and with headphones, so I restart my phone, now sounds play perfectly when there aren't any headphones plugged in but when there are, it now happens what you described there, a tick sound lasting the first few seconds the headphones are plugged in and if I try to play any media it happens that "instrumental effect", other heaphones do the same, so it's obviously the phone.

I mean, is it really possible that some kind of problem occurred while trying to vibrate and play sound at the same time? Well it was for me, the phone was fine until then.

Sorry for the boringly long post haha

    Hi all.

I'm from Italy and I bought the E700 smartphone in December 2014. I tried to use the Iphone eraphones but the smartphone doesn't recognize them when plugged in. I tried to unplug slowly them and the related icon appears for a couple of seconds in the upper part of the screen but then it disappears.

I tried with other headphones and they work properly.

Does anyone know why the iphone earphones seem not to be recognize by the E700?

Thank you for your help and I hope to contribute soon or later to this forum.

    Bye and happy new year.

    Hi,
I tested my phone e700 with an iphone 5 earphone and worked fine

I'm trying to use the Iphone4 ones. But they don't work. But they work with my laptop and with Iphone4 as well.

I'm a bit disappointed since I hate the modern earphones that go deep in the ear.

I prefer the classic stardard flat ones.

I have no idea how to solve this issue..

My phone has gotten worse, first was just the initial ticking and the distorted sound but now it doesn't play any sound whatsoever except for notifications or calls. And that got me thinking and I think I've found the problem here guys, it's the DTS Studio Sound because if you pay attention, every single sound that doesn't "activate" DTS is played perfectly (headphones on or off), just test it, for example: go to the alarm clock to choose a song, any of them will play flawlessly and because of what? Because DTS Studio Sound wasn't activated (no icon in the notification area). The bad part is that if you go into the DTS settings and turn it off it sill doesn't let the sounds play, it's exactly the same and it will still appear in the notification area, only this time with a line over it representing that it's turned off.

    Great  Acer.

    Hi All,

I've had exactly the same issue: low volume fast clicking sound in both channels.

And main volume was low and distorted.

    Solutiuon found: Smiley Happy

It's hardware issue with bad phono jack soldering joints.

    See my gallery here:

Acer Liquid E700 fixed headphone jack photo gallery

So don't play with software - it will not help.

I have done that by myself - warranty is gone...

I had the same problem and I opened mine, with the risk of loosing the warranty and I found out it is a hardware problem. The soldering compound that they used to mount the components is not so good and one of the female jack pin had a bad connection, that was the fault. I just redid the soldering and it is working fine now.

    Hi,

how did you disassemble the phone? I cannot see any screw..

In the meantime also the volume button stopped to work in both directions and I'm obliged to use a widget to increase or decrease the volume.

To be honest I'll not rebuy this kind of smartphone. The only good feature is the battery; all others components are bad compared to other smartphones.

    Waiting for your kindly feedback.
