Aspire Switch 10 keyboard problem

Hi. I am having problems with my brand new Acer Aspire Switch 10.

I have just unboxed it - it seems great - but unfortunately there is a problem with the keyboard. When I press 's' or 'g' I get 'gs', likewise 't' and '4', 'y' and 'w', '6' and '3', and most annoyingly 'v' and 'right arrow'. I am typing this message on an external keyboard!, which works fine.

Is there something I can do to try and fix the problem, or am I looking at a return Smiley Sad

Which locale is your system setup for (us, uk, de, fr)? If you were getting just doubled keys it would be one thing, but it sound as if each keypress is giving you two different characters?

    Set up for UK english.

Yes, that's right, two different characters. I have since learnt that if i press one of the faulty keys *very* quickly, I get just the first character in the sequence. So, for example, if I want a 'g' that's great, but if I want an 's', it's not!

I can't come up with any scenario where that is caused by software glitches... I'm afraid it's time for a trip back to Acer. There's probably a short between sense lines in the keyboard. You could potetially verify by connecting a USB or bluetooth keyboard to see if it's something else, but it's not likely to show you anything that you can correct yourself. Smiley Sad

    I'm not an Acer employee.

I would have tried flashing the keyboard as you suggested, by I returned it to the store this morning for a refund, and have ordered another for delivery tomorrow. I hope it works as my first impressions of the machine (keyboard aside) were positive.

    Thanks for the advice

Great! I expect there was a hardware problem with either the keyboard or the keyboard to tablet interface on that last one.

Had similar problem, check language settings, plus go to updates and install ALL. I am sure mine came right after a bios update.Good-luck, these are really cool machines when you get all the silly little bugs ironed out.
