Iconia tablet insufficient storage

I need to transfer apps from the main space to the internal SD however the 'move to internal SD' option is not highlighted when I try to do it?! I've attempted this on all apps; does anyone know why?

In general Android doesn't like you to put apps on removable media, and the newer the Android version the harder it gets. You can use the external storage for data though. Make sure that pictures, video and the like are going there and remove unused apps to keep internal storage space maximized.

Thank you for replying. Not sure if there's an actual problem with the tablet as cannot download anything; just comes up as 'error there is insufficient space on the device' but there is hardly anything stored on it. We've even uninstalled most of the apps we had previously downloaded but still not able to add anything?

Yes, you can have this message even if you uninstall all the downloaded application, because the data cache will not be cleared completly.

i would suggest you to do a factory reset if possible and then re-install what you need.

please do a backup of all your personal data, since it will be deleted from the reset.
