Hi.

I was sitting and listining to some music, and suddenly when i changed the song there was no sound.
if i connect headphones there is sound but not without.
The speeker icon down in right corner shows that there is sound playing, but nothing comes out.

I have tried to download and update my audio driver - did not help

I have tried restarting af system restore - did not helpd
My devices manager -  Sound, video and game controllers - says my audio devices are enabled
The speeker are set as default.

What happened ??

In sound/playback does your High definition audio device still have the checkmark in the green circle? If not highlight it and click make default.

    See what this tells you:

Open the Playing Audio troubleshooter by clicking the Start button , and then click Control Panel. In the search box, type troubleshooter, and then clickTroubleshooting. Under Hardware and Sound, click Troubleshoot audio playback.Administrator permission required If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

By any chance did this happen right  after a Windows update?

    not that i know of.
Yesterday i changed some settings to get my mic working, but that was only some changes to the microphone volume and boost.

You could restore it to a restore point before this happened and see if you have speakers.

Have you checked if Windows Audio in services is set to auto?

About the only thing I have left before I believe it's hardware related is:Uninstall all window updates from July 2014, reboot and check your drivers.

make sure it gets all the July updates or go to Windows Update and uninstall them.

it can not restore to a date that long ago, so i guess i just have to remove all the updates made in august, september and oktober.

Go to Control Panel/ Programs and Features/show updates. You can uninstall the ones you want. Only July 2014.

    Just July 2014

  • Hi Morkhoj,

I See that you've been with all possible ways to fix sound, but as a last measure you could also check with windows update KB2962407,. if you find it, uninstall & Hide the same to prevent reinstalling,. & post your comments here,. Thanks
