Acer Iconia Tab 8 A1-840 FHDSD card mount problem

I bought the Iconia tab 8 (A1-840 FHD) and was disappointed. Due to incorrectly configured firmware - SD card when the device is connected properly mounted within the system (such as an external USB drive), there is no way to transfer files to it (the card is locked for writing applications) can not be set as a cache for Google Music, no connection mode as USB drive when connected to a computer. In fact, it is not working appendage and is not intended for storing information. When can I expect to fix this problem? Why was it decided to change the default for all other tablets on the market functionality?

    slisicin,

I apologize that you are not getting the function out of the device and SD card as you expect. With the new Kitkat release there were some changes to SD cards and how they are utilized in the Android KitKat release. Please review this article KitKat and SD cards .

But this feature does not affect with music stored in cache by Google Music on all my smartphones (form LG and Sony) with latest version 4.4.4 Adnroid. Thus problem with availability for cache music at SD card in standard Google Music application only on Acer firmware.

Have you tried other microSD cards or formatting that microSD card?

What capacity of card are you using?

Can you use the SD card for other things, or does it just have problem with Music?

I have not been able to use my micro SD card that I bought for my Acer iconia tab 8 from  day 1 as it is not functional due to whatever changes that were made prior to boxing and shipping out to the public. On the box and in advertising it is listed as a feature which constitutes fraud in my opinion. And if there is some round about way of using it that is not good enough. You should be able to utilize the card slot/function just as you would if it were a camera or a laptop computer. Even though I have not been able to use it I have left it in my tablet and when I turned my tablet on I got a notification that it was damaged and to try to reformat it. It's funny that I can't use it but the tablet somehow damaged it! Double whammy! So what is Acer going to do to fix this situation for all of us who have purchased tablets with useless card slots? No excuses or be either. Consumers, like myself, are tired of being lied to and taken advantage of. Yes laptops and tablets are more affordable then ever but that does not mean quality and customer service should be null and void because we are getting such a good deal.

Acmorwin, it sounds as if your card was formatted with a filesystem that Android doesn't recognize, which isn't unusual if it's been in a Windows environment. Do you know what format is on your card? What size is it?

My card is 32gb fat32 format. I used a special tool to make sure that the format is OK. https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/index.html%28Share

A 32GB FAT32 SDHC card should be working fine. What happen when you browse to the card using a file manager?

OK, so the problem isn't with the OS but with the apps. I'd start with the app you need external storage the most for (I use my SD card exclusively for music and pictures, so it's easy for me) and contact the developer. Tell them exactly which version of Android you are running and ask what you can move to the SD card.

I decided to return the tablet because the HDMI doesn't work. Thanks for your help.
