Acer recovery discs not installing Windows 7 on a new SSD hard drive

Hello all!

I have Ace Aspire 5742G notebook and I'm having problems installing the Windows 7 OS on my new SSD hard drive (I bought the SSD because the original hard drive is failing and making blue screens all the time...)

For the factory restore, I'm using restore discs. I burned the discs few years back when the laptop insisted me of doing it (by using eRecovery or something, 3 dvds total).

The computer tries to install the OS with the dvds (asks to insert a dvd and then press a key). The actual problem is that the installer is just going in loops, restarting and eventuallyfreezing in the end..

Reboot -> Acer logo -> Windows is loading files... -> Starting windows -> Reboot -> etc.

That kept going for more than a hour (on the first dvd!) and suddenly it just froze on the "starting windows" screen.. So I had to reboot and star over again.

I can still use my old formated HDD, should I make new set of recovery discs or use an USB drive?

Thanks for the answers in advance! Smiley Happy

I wasn't able to edit my previous message so I will make a new one..

So I figured out (with the help of Google) that the problem was that I had installed new set of DDR3 memory. When I changed them back to the original ones (2x2GB) everything worked out smoothly.

Anyways. Thanks for the help ! Smiley Happy

An USB drive is faster and more reliable than DVD, so if you can do an USB media, do it.

Remember to let Windows to format your SSD, so if possible destroy any formated partition and leave it unallocated.

    I'm not an Acer employee.

Well, I tried to use my old HDD. But it doesn't work (cant reboot to system recovery or anything). And the dvds aren't working. So what now? Smiley Very Happy ...

I've tried that but it only says.. "No RCD available for the entered Serial Number."
