Bluetooth hang-up

I'm using my E380 duo sim (E3 liquid) since a few weeks. One of the first things to do was to pair it with the factory car kit of my BMW (July 2014). Pairing worked fine, no connection issues. When I enter my car, with the phone in my pocket, the phone is always connected after a short while.

However, during phone conversations, frequently the bluetooth connection is interrupted, sometimes after one minute sometimes it takes more than 10 minutes. The phone connection to caller on the other side may be lost but I´m not sure, they may break the connection themselves, as I'm not answering the conversation anymore. After this has happened, the phone will only reconnect to the car when the phone is re-booted. Stopping the car, turning it off, even after the car's system-power has been turned down (takes a few minutes after the key left the vincinity of the car), no reconnection possible except from when the phone is rebooted. Hence I suspect the bluetooth sofware/hardware is frozen.

Error messages, or what so ever, do not appear. I´m not sure whether the bluetooth icon remains green or turn to grey, during the incident.

The phone runs Android 4.2.2 and has had all available updates.

I hope anyone has a solution to this very anoying issue.

Thanks in advance...

I know it's a classic answer but have you tried to do a factory reset to your E3?

you will loose all your personal data (not the microSD data) but this will refresh the OS, so we can start to narrow the causes of this issue.

If I do a back/up of the personal data and the apps to the SD card, I presume I can restore my phone back to `how it is at this moment´ or do I need to do some rework on the personalisation afterwards?

You can back up to your SD, contacts and downloaded applications.

by the way if you use google to sync contacts, you just need to log on at first reboot to have it done automatically, this apply also on downloaded application.

applications settings and some system settings must re-done by user.

Thanks, being to eager to wait, I already did the back-up to SD of both personal items and apps and finished with the reset. I'll find out in about an hour or so, during my next trip, whether it brought something.

I'll let you know the result.

Last night, after resetting to factory settings, I restored the apps and personal settings.

While driving, I made several calls and during the first three calls (up to 15min each) no issues.

The forth call went wrong. After a seconds, the bluetooth system of the car reported, no active phone connections available, while the phone was still showing a green bluetooth icon; actually, it was still running the call.

I checked in the bluetooth settings of the phone: bluetooth was still on and showing it was connected to my car. Therefore I switched of bluetooth on the phone and tried to turn it on again. This wasn't possible anymore. I could not slide the bluetooth switch from grey-off to green-on. The phone just refused to do that.

Again restart of the phone did the trick....

I've made a photo of the displays of both my car and the phone, as it was disconnected, though the phone was showing the opposite. In case wanted, I can mail it, though it is in Dutch!

On E3 with BT ON and connected to your car BT, go to system settings/bluetooth (tap on the label not the switch), on available devices, tap on the right icon "settings" of your car BT system.

which settings are available and which one are selected?

I'm not 100% sure which settings you're asking for. Therefore, all I can find.

Acer E380, only visible for paired equipment.

So In the connection to my car, it says, profiles: Telephone audio: box checked, Media-audio: box checked

    Furthermore advanced settings:

    FTP-server: unchecked

    External SIM-mode: unchecked

Settings for exteral messages, Access to external message: unchecked

Time-out for visibility is set at 2 minutes

Sorry if the wording of the settings isn't a 100% correct, the menus are showing in Dutch, do my best to translate it to decent English

Ok, uncheck Media Audio, reboot and try some phone calls.

    Hi IronFly,

Tomorrow got a little later, may holidays came in between...

I turned off the media check box but unfortunately no improvement.

In the meantime I also experience a different appearance of probably the same issue. While calling (through BT carkit), the sound is shortly interupted, several times a second...as if the dataflow is to low to create a continuous sound stream. Also the receiving side of the call experiences low sound quality. The call however continues. Later on during the the same call, a complete hang-up may still occur.

    Any new ideas?

Here we are again, the phone blew my mind yesterday, BT-freezing at least 10 times, while on the road.

I'm very pleased to hear the update may offer some relief.

The build of my phone is: Acer_AV052_E380_1.016.00_EMEA.GEN1

    Looking forward for any news!

You have the latest version that has this fix:

Bluetooth connection dropping issue with BMW series 1 carkit

so....the only thing i can suggest is to delete from you carkit the E3 pairing and re-connect it again.

I'll let you know whether it works. If not I'll contact local service in the Netherlands.
