SSD for Aspire 1640

These are IDE drives with MS pins to be jumpered. The built in cd drive is factory jumpered as a slave. Removing the Master jumper from the SSD results in a freeze at power up.
I think the problem is in the drive itself.
I've contacted Transcend about the problem and am waiting for a response.

Seems so, Joey. Let us know how Transcend tries to convince you that it's not. 8^)

Transcend got back to me and suggested that I "format the drive as NTFS". What that has to do with it I don't understand. So I am returning the drive.

It'd be interesting (to me anyway) to try it before returning it.
