WIFI of Iconia W4 is too Weak after repair

I bring my Iconia W4 back to where I  bought it for repair because it hangs all the time. They forward it to samsung service center, but after its repair, I noticed that the WIFI signal is too weak compare before.

Anyone know if this can be solve with a driver update? I have already updated the windows to its latest update and also downloaded the bios and driver update from acer without luck.

Any advice?

May have disconnectd the internal antenna wire but first check the WIFI driver properties to make sure it is set to maximum power. What Broadcom driver do you have ?

Of course if samsung repaired it all bets are off.

As what I can see in the properties when I open it under device manager, the driver provider is broadcom and the driver date is 11/15/2013, the driver version is 5.93.99.187.

So is it possible that the internal antenna was disconnected?

    jaypabs,

there's another thread here about frequent freeze of our w4 tablet:

    http://community.acer.com/t5/Windows-Tablets/W4-completelly-freeze/td-p/257412

for now acer is still investigating to solve this issue

can you tell us how did they "repair" your w4 ? does they give you another one ? and can you confirm that you have no freeze with the new one ?

    Hi,

I don't know how they'd repair it. I think they don't replace it. For now, I don't experience any windows freeze. The only problem I noticed si the WIFI. It's too weak. It cannot connect to my wireless router for more than 4 or 5 meters.

Yeah, that sounds like they didn't get the antenna wires solidly back on the connectors. It'll have to be taken apart and the wires pushed fully on the connectors. Smiley Sad
