W700 Recovery to resolve Split Screen Issue

Hi,

I know there are a few discussions on this but none that seem to be totally clear as to the resolution. My W700 has developed the sleep/split screen issue (I Think after someone I initially sold it to installed their own copy of Windows 8). I want to restore it to the factory default. I have the supplied Recovery Discs (System DVD, Recovery DVD, Recovery DVD Disc 1, 2, 3) and and external DVD drive.

I have the issue of the System DVD getting me into a loop of requesting to boot in Legacy and then UEFI. I've got the External drive as the first bootable drive so its reading the disc but it keeps requesting me to boot in the other mode each time. Some talk of deleting all paritions first...really?

Generally, the issue you are describing is caused by the recovery media not recognizing the drive partitioning for some reason. The resolution is to delete the disk partitioning, then the recovery media should work properly. There are many third party tools and tutorials online that will allow you to delete the drive partitioning.

Thanks Blayn. By coincidence i did exactly that last night. Once the partitions were removed the recovery media worked as expected. The factory reset resolved the split screen from sleep issue. Thanks for the reply.
