Wi Fi problem (slow in normal mode, but works fine is safe mode)

Hello,

I've got Aspire V5-552g

OS Windows 8.1

WiFi Driver Wireless LAN_Atheros_10.0.0.263_W81x64

The internet speed is supposed to be 52 mb/s

When connecting the notebook both using cable or WiFi, my download speed is less then 5 mb/s, and the upload speed is fine.

If I switch to safe mode, everything works fine.

Clean Windows startup, antivirus removal and brandmauer disconnection don't help.

When I reinstall the driver everything works fine, but after the system reboot or switching to SLEEP MODE, the download speed goes down and is less then 5 mb/s.

PLEASE help me solving this problem.

This is mostly related to energy saving settings. You did not write when this is happen. If your power cord is connected or only if it is not connected? Anyway, try changing energy plan settings and set the WLAN property to maximum. This should help.

It happens both with connected and disconnected power cord. I've set power settings to maximum productivity, it didn't help. I need any other suggestions

What exactly do you mean with "Internet speed"? If I look at your speed values than I have to ask what wireless connection provides 52 MB/s? What kind of connection is your WLAN using? At what data rate? If you have a 300 MBit connection than 1-12 MB/s are normal. But reaching 52 MB/s is impossible.

Could it be that you are confused about the measurement unit of your connections? MBit and MB are not the same.

Hi, I had the same problem with this pc: only 7 mb of 100 mb for wifi (ethernet too).

Finally, I was able to fix it (it's a problem with the installation of Windows 8.1):

Do a factory reset (it lasts 3 hours) and then choose (to configure Windows) local account, you must select "create an account with microsoft" at first and on the next screen select "continue with a local account". This disable skydrive functions, also you can uninstall acer sky programs.

Now my internet speed is about 100 mb by wifi or 150 by ethernet.

    I hope this help you,
    regards from Spain!
