Edge Swipe

How can I disable "edge swipe" from my V5-122p. I have updated the Synaptics driver from the Acer site but that does not have any means to disable it. I have tried updating the driver to a later one from  Synaptics but I get errors

I have stuck a bit of tape on the right edge of the touchpad so I can feel where the edge is before touching it.

Early days but it might work. nothing else does!!!

    Hi..Man Happy

You need to open control panel > hardware and sound > mouse > device settings > settings.  From there you can adjust a lot of the trackpad settings, including "Disable edge swipes".

    For Synaptics touchpad
Click the Device Settings tab in the Mouse Control Panel.
    Click on the Settings button.
Uncheck the option 'Enable Edge Swipes' and click OK.

As I have told Acer support

The 8.1 Synaptics driver available on the Acer driver downloads does not have the facility to "Enable Edge Swipes" so you can disable it

    The driver is v17.0.6.13

    Hi..

I'm in the same situation as you are.  All answers I got was to look in the driver settings and as you allso have noticed, the settings are simply not there.  I ended up in uninstalling the Synaptics driver and the idiotic charms menu now appears only when I want the to.  Problem is that now, I dont have anything other than the mouse pad.  No multi touch etc.   Whats even more silly is that Acer has modifyed (my guess) the driver so installing the driver downloaded directly from Synaptics is not possible.

The bit of tape seems to work.

I now feel the tape before hinting the edge.

Its like a early warning that you are getting close to the edge

A bit" blue peterish" but if it works ...

    hi..

If you want to disable all gesture functions simply uninstall the touchpad drive listed under Mice and pointing device. Use the Microsoft driver, which is a generic mouse driver.

I dont like the microsoft driver as it has tap to click.

I will stick with the plastic tape on the touch pad. Hardly a good advert for a Acer product that you need to tape the touch pad because they dont have a driver to stop Edge Swipe.

A V5-122p in Currys had a ELAN driver which could disable the edge swipe

I have updated the touch pad.

I now use sticky Velcro, the fluffy side, rather than tape on the right of the touch pad.

Wouild you consider this to be a "acceptable solution". I dont think so
