S7 191 BIOS Update fails

Hi,

I'm trying to update the BIOS of my S7 191. My current BIOS version is 2.16 and the newest at Acer website for my PC seems to be 2.18. When I start the installer, it detects the BIOS version on my PC and restarts it. But the only thing I see is the Acer screen. Nothing happens even after waiting half an hour. Just that screen. After half an hour of waiting with that screen on, I turned the PC off using the power button. And when it booted, I got the old BIOS version.

My current OS is Windows 8.1.

The main reason I want to update the BIOS is that I want to boot my PC from USB and install a sane OS instead of Windows 8. I disabled secure boot and the fast boot option of Windows 8. But when I tried booting the PC from the USB disk (which I have tested to be working on another setup) I see the Acer screen. And then Acer screen starts blinking (or reloading, I don't know). After some research, I found out that I'm not the only one with this issue: http://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/494137-Booting-installation-USB-on-UEFI-and-RAID0

So, if someone could help me boot my Acer from USB in UEFI mode that would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Apparently not.  I see no solutions for this issue.  I have the same problem too.

I attempted the update and had similar results to what was reported. We are looking into the issue and I will provide an update when more information is available.

You removed the file, then reposted a new one, which has exactly the same issue.  And whats D2D logo?

I applied the update last week (july 11), and my screen is completely blank, loosk like the system  has booted, but  cannot get to the setup or anything.

    Is there a fix?

This should never have happen.  Looking at the posts, acer clearly knows about this problem sicne may, yet has not resovled it

Did you load this file? It was released to resolve errors from updating from 2.16 to 2.19.
