Have an Acer Aspire V5 on windows 8. The sound keeps disappearing and only comes back if I reboot or disable then enable realtech. All drivers are up to date. Any help out there please ? Will it need a new sound card. Less than 1 year old machine.

We recommend you to try reinstalling audio drivers (if you have not done this already) and see if it resolves your issue. Before downloading and reinstalling audio drivers, you need to uninstall current audio drivers.

To uninstall current audio drivers, follow the steps below:
    1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap "Search".
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click "Search".)
    2. Enter "control panel" in the search box, and then tap or click "Control Panel".
    3. Under View by:, select "Large Icons", and then tap or click "Programs and features".
    4. Tap or click "Realtek" program, and then tap or click "Uninstall".
    5. Follow the instructions on the screen.

Now, to download and reinstall latest audio drivers in your device, following the steps below:
    1. Go to http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support
    2. Go to "Drivers and Manuals" section and enter your product model number in the box below "Search by Product Model". Click "Search"
    3. Once your product details get displayed on the screen, select your operating system appropriatey from the drop-down menu besides "Operating System".
    4. In the table that appears below, go to "Drivers" section, and then go to "Audio" in the "Category" section. Click on "Download" in the same row to download latest audio drivers for your device.
    5. Follow on-screen instructions to install the drivers.

If the above steps do not resolve your issue, you may need to check if there are any hardware issues in your device. As your device is under warranty, we recommend you to contact Acer Customer Support for further assistance. The link for Acer Customer Support is:
