I grabbed our V3-772G and this seems to be the norm for this unit. The reason this units fan is going to run more or constantly is because its thermal profile is different from a lower end unit. This is a higher end gaming unit with an i7 processor, dedicated graphics card, and two hard drives (SSD+HDD) so it will require more power, therefore requiring more heat to be displaced.

So by design what you are describing is normal for this model.

I have this problem after updating to BIOS V1.15

    My behaviour is :

    1. Opening Notebook - Fan is working at ... lets say 20% percent power

    2. I open an application thats using a lot of GPU power ( a game )

    3. While staying at 20% percent power of the fan the notebook will do a FORCED SHUT DOWN because the GPU temperature is raising from 30-35 idle to 90/100 !

SO I DO THIS trick !

    4. So i'm ALT+TAb - ing to wait for the FAN TO GO TO 100%  ( Waiting 2 -3 minutes  ...)

    5. Opening the application/game again   ( Temperature dropping somewhere to 50-60 , depends on the application/game )

    6. AND THE FAN WILL REMAIN AT 100% , even if laptop is idle-ing !!!!!!!!

LAtest driver , bios , changed thermal paste ,etc

    Sorry for my english

NEED A BETTER BIOS Or a FAN CONTROL SOFTWARE !

    Acer 772g
    Windows 8.1 x64
    BIOS V1.15

"Atest driver , bios , changed thermal paste ,etc"

changed thermal paste on your own or in some repair shop ? does it woid warranty ?

Thermal paste changed by a specialized shop. Did a lot of tweaks so that the laptop won't shutdown before fan starts and a simple way to prevent that is by minimizing the game in taskbar and wait for the fan to kick in. After fan starts , it will work at 100% speed until next reboot even if computer is idle.

So the problems are the latency of fan , it does take a lot to start when the notebook is really hot and after it starts at 100% , it will stay at 100% until next reboot or shutdown.

After reading some posts in this forum i'm starting to be afraid to updait anything from acer ...

wifi problems ... fan (overheat) problems ... BSOD problems afer updaiting bios .. flickering screen problem ..

it looks like laptop was released without any testing whatsoever..

    >100C temprature ... thats "normal"  who will notice

BIOS fix one .. ruin enything else .. thats fine we will release new BIOS  after 1 year anyway

** if you have to buy external cooling for new laptop, or send it straight to service to clean that  thermal paste and replace it.
