Acer Aspire XC-605 unable to update BIOS

I downloaded the latest BIOS for my Acer Aspire XC-605 from Acer downloads for updating.

My computer came with version P11-A2 and the newer version is P11-A3L.

I created a USB Boot disk using the HP USB disk tool and all seemed to work fine. However, when I tried to flash the BIOS using flash.bat I get the following message:

ERROR: Rom file ROMID is not compatible with existing BIOS ROMID

What am I doing wrong?

    Hello BeeSee,

The bios version P11-A3L is for Linux. Your original version P11-A2 is for Windows. The correct upgrade is P11-A3.

If your computer works correctly, it's not necessary to upgrade the bios.

    Thanks for that information Laurent_14.

I have now found the correct BIOS.

My computer is running great, but but when using Acer Portal, I am unable to "Enable Acer Always Connect" (wake up computer) and was getting a message that said "Acer Always Connect Feature Unavailable - error 205".

Someone suggested that updating the BIOS could solve this. So I should not update the BIOS?

    Hello,

In this case, you can upgrade the bios but only under DOS (like you tried).

The BIOS update was successful, and I thank you for your help Laurent_14.

However, it did not resolve the Acer Portal issue. That is not really a big deal, but I am sure it will eventually be figured out Smiley Happy
