Liquid E3 - Status Notification BAR Problem

Hello all! Smiley Happy

Here's the problem - whenever I take a call.... when the phone is against my ear/head.... the Status Notification BAR gets "scolled down" and sometimes I'll accidentally hit the "Flight Mode" icon and cut the call off, or I'll hit the "Settings" icon and continue to launch the phone into all kinds of different settings as I'm talking until I finally accidentally cut the call off.

Is there a way of "Locking" the Status Notification BAR so that is DOESN'T scroll down?

I have contacted ACER Technical Support and they say that there isn't an option to do this because it is a function of the phone that the Status Notification BAR CAN be scrolled down.

So, I guess another question would be - "Is there an Android app which can lock the Status Notification BAR?"

Thanks in advance folks! Smiley Happy

If you put the phone near your ear the screen must shut off, try a call and put your hand on the proximity sensor.
If the screen will not shut off, there is a software problem, a factory reset probably can fix it but you will loose your data.

That's strange, since the E3 has a proximity sensor that will turn off your screen when a call is active and you get the device close to your ear.

    Ironfly - hi.

I never saw any mention of a proximity sensor in the manual and I had a quick look over at a few websites which list the E3 specs, and I couldn't find it listed there either?  Here's where I looked:

    http://gadgets.ndtv.com/acer-liquid-e3-1291

I think it's a feature for the new dual sim E3 and not "the original" E3? Here's where I looked: http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/acer-liquid-e3-duo-720-x-1280-4-7-ips-quad-core-1-2-ghz-1-gb-memory-dualsim-4gb-1864557

Unfortunately I have the single sim E3 not the dual sim.

    Thanks for your help.

Just to be sure, install this application from google play:
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mtorres.phonetester

And see if a proximity sensor is available, i'm quite sure that also the single SIM E3 has it.

    Thanks for that Smiley Happy

I installed it.... it says I DO have a proximity sensor..... cm36283 Proximity Sensor etc (I got that from the Properties)... but when I finally waved my hand over the Notification Bar the result is "Far"...

But that still doesn't change the fact that when a call is answered, (whether it's a "floating box" or just the normal call screen), the phone's Notification Bar is always at the top of the screen and will always be there to be accidentally hit/scrolled and the icons that are there to be "activated" etc.

I've checked out some apps, (like Nova launcher), and although they may work to hide the Notification Bar... as soon as an incoming call is answered and the phone goes to it's "phone screen" - the Notification Bar is at the top of the screen.

There are, apparently, ways to doing some coding to make the Notification Bar disappear altogether.... but I'm not that clever and it's a new phone Smiley Happy

But thanks for your continued help!

    Hello again Smiley Happy

Ah ha! I think I see what is going on..... you're right! Smiley Happy

And.... I think that either I've been too quick to get the phone to my ear and the screen hasn't disappeared, and the Notification Bar has scrolled down etc etc.... or during a phone call where I may have moved the phone away from my head - and then moved it back quickly again the Notification Bar has scrolled down etc etc.

There does appear to be about a 1 or 2 second delay between the phone call being accepted and the screen disappearing as I lift the phone to my head (or pass my hand over the sensor as I did for this test). Interesting.

    But RESOLVED Smiley Happy

Thanks again Mr Ironfly - what a nice man you are - and what a great community forum this is Smiley Happy

    Well done everyone!
