FT200HQL Compatibility

I have to say I am very disappointed that my brand new FT200HQL does not suplort any other windows platforms other than Windows 8, which is in my opinion, windows cheapest and least powerful OS for desktop users doing large computing fron say 3d rendering or HD media editing.

Is there any reason the 20" touchscreen, ft200hql, is only supported by Windows 8? Are there plans to support windows 7, xp, or even linux platforms in the future? Or have any geniuses out there resolved the compatibility issues themselves and offer a dricer solution or work around using an adaptor, convertor, or piece of software?

This really dissapoints me in that I love Acer and their quality, but can't imagine why an effort wouldn't be made to bring this hardware to other operating platforms.

Thoughts? Solutions?

  • The drivers for the FT200HQL on the Acer download site are not drivers (unless I am wrong)! They are Windows 8 Hardware Compatibility submission files that I suspect have been posted in error.

As I say, unless I am wrong, Acer need to pull these and post the correct drivers for Win8 and Win7.

(If an XP driver was also made available, I would likely buy one of these too!!)

I found no official or any kind of information to support the Windows 8 only compatibility claim. In fact, I read about users using it on Linux and Windows 7. I'm using it on Windows 7. I can confirm that what is supposed to be Windows 8 drivers on the Acer download page are in fact some unusable junk files.

I got other problems with that monitor. Read the following post:
