Hi Community, I have had my Aspire E1-572G for three weeks now, and have been unable to find a solution to my problem. I cannot play Blu Ray movie discs on this machine, using Nero 2014 Platinum, or LG Blu Ray Suite (CyberLink).  The notebook is running Windows 8.1. Both applications work OK on my Acer i7 desktop, running Windows 7.

I have contacted Acer Support, but they direct me to an app called clear.fi. I have installed this and it only appears to be a glorified wireless sharing app, I could not find a way to play a Blu Ray.

The applications cannot display the Blu Ray movie menu, however, if I navigate to the video files with explorer, the files can be opened and viewed. This is not much use, as I want to be able to check Blu Ray discs created on the notebook, when away from home, the main reason for buying the machine.

The LG Blu Ray suite has an app called BD Advisor, which checks various items in the machine for suitability for BluRay.

This app points to the Graphics driver (10.18.10.3355 - dated 15/11/2013). I have tried to install newer versions, but no matter which method I use, a message appears stating to the effect that Windows has determined that the best driver for the device is already installed.

From various sites I get the impression that a new driver may need to be modified by the computer manufacturer for that particular hardware combination.

Can anybody help with this problem?

Thanking you, Dave

What are the specf of your model? I did not know that it has blue ray? If it has perhaps only thing you need is fw upgrade...

BTW does your model have sleep problems? I've version with i3 4010u and HD 8750M and it won't automatically go to sleep.

    It goes there manually but...
