Do I need to update BIOS to upgrade to 8.1?

I've read that you should only update the BIOS if you have to, and people say that you shouldn't if you're upgrading from 7 to 8, but on the upgrade page it specifically says:

Before updating your PC to Windows 8.1, Acer recommends that you do a few things first.

  1. Update your BIOS & antivirus to the latest version.
  2. Please uninstall any Intel and/or NVIDIA VGA drivers before updating to Windows 8.1.

What should I do? If I do need to update the BIOS, how do I do that? There are three files, should I do all or just the most recent?

I am using an Aspire V5-573G.

I think I've decided to just leave the BIOS alone. However, uninstalling the graphics drivers makes me really uneasy. I'll be able to reinstall after upgrading, correct?

No longer an issue: Did not update BIOS, uninstalled graphics, upgraded to 8.1, which then updated the drivers again. Only issue now is Bluetooth, for which I made a new question. Otherwise 8.1 is working as well as it can.
