Acer Switch 10 64Gb: Touchpad Bug

I want to submit this message in english because the german thread is hard to found.

On June 5th I ordered the Switch 10 64Gb version in the Netherlands and should have been delivered allready but is at least delayed for one week. I have a deep concern for the touchpad bug which is at least present on the german models beside the short battery time(+/- 4 hrs). I hope Acer is reading this and will decide for a recall or a very very quick GOOD fix of the problem and give a comment on this. Until now it looks like they are hiding.

    Hi ebk71,

I hope your Switch 10 is arriving soon. Hopefully do you not run into any issues, but I assure you our support teams as well as the community are here to support any potential issue you may have.

Really, Acer-Cory??? To support any potential issue??? It would be great if you would support not only potential, but also real existing issues, documented in thousands of reports!!!

Where is a solution for the touchpad bug??? Your patches (D09, D10, Master Installer) do not resolve this problem!!!

And to give a follow up:

I tested a 32Gb type which did not have issues beside a short battery time.

The 64Gb type I received yesterday does not look to have issues right now. There was a moment I thought I had enforced the bug but after restart it did not appear again. I have not installed any firmware, patch or windows updates yet.

Also this one is also short on battery time. Acer really should have replaced the metal in the dock for a extra battery.

I few things I noticed with the 64Gb: Package was sealed same as the 32Gb, but cover for tablet was opened before!

Dock contained wipe/cleaning stripes at the bottom. If I look at the touchpad, it seems there is a tiny bit of height difference compared to the 32Gb dock.

Also had a volume-narrator problem which I read before, but after reconfiguring the button this behaviour did not occur anymore.

To sum it up: The 64Gb was a refurbished or modified one. I seem to have a working example, but if Acer would give more background info, it would restore a bit of the trust consumers now have lost.

NO! It's not a working example: again the narrator problem appeared although I had configured the volume up button to start the on screen keyboard and the same time the power button would not power the unit of AND the windows screen buton stopped working.

Congratiulations! I will send 2 units back and I will not buy a new one unles you give me one to try at least for a month.

    arrogant company's...........

Because you are interested I take the time to answer you in the opposite how Acer handles this issue.

Ofcourse I did that, but if you can read german, you will find out that nobody was succesfull to solve this with those patches. It's just a hardware issue.

I have a posted this issues in a dutch topic, it's getting really quiet overthere because we won't buy it anymore. About every reviewer on amazon.de who bought the 64Gb send it back, the same as I did. And to give a other example of the strange support of acer: on the dutch acer site when selecting driver support for the switch I got "service unavailable" for several days.

    yeah real too bad

I hear many times acer is #$()  but this switch 10 just looked as better build quality than asus t100.

There is supposed to come a refresh of the T100 but it just the same with faster cpu.

On the switch 10 everybody say the screen is double bright and you can use it outside in sunlight which you cant with the t100

and also the keyboard is bigger and better on switch 10 than on the t100

So I was looking into the switch 10 but seems it some hardware problems

I see on Amazon they say battery is only 4 hours and not 8 is that correct?

Even the T100 is like 8-9 "real" hours

I a recent official dutch review it reached 5H 45 min. That's about the same what I got but after dimming the screen and no autoadjust. Just have a look at the new asus t100 or t200, or Lenovo Miix 2 10 or just wait another 3 or 4 months for something new. Spare yourself the frustration with the switch 10. Oh I remeber something: in the review of the 32Gb version I saw the left side of the keyboard was not straight, that was the same with mine. They made a mess of it.

Did you try the T100 also and compare the screens?

If there is a huge difference?

It seems the screen on Acer 10 is best it just the keyboard with the issues?

    Forget Switch 10, forget T100!!!

Switch 10 has a perfect technical concept, but the dock bug makes it unusable.

T100 however has a totally absurd concept: The tablet itself has only one USB port, which is used at the same time for power/loading; so it's not a full Windows tablet at all. And when it is turned on, it will load only very slowly or not load at all; to load it must be completely off. Absurd!

Hi, which 64GB version do you guys have? ...and does anybody know what the difference between the Acer Switch 10 model SW5-011-11JE (NT.L47AA.004) and 10 SW5-011-13GQ (NT.L47AA.003) is? Both have 64GB drives and seem even, according to Acer's own comparision, to be absolutely identical.
