Aspire M5 481PT wireless dropping every few minutes

It was delivered with windows8 and should run with windows8 without requiring any action to be taken by the customer.  But it does not.  I've downloaded the current driver off the site (10.0.0.216).  No help.  Next step is to return it.  It's useless to me without a stable wireless connection.

I have noticed a number of people having the same problem with Acers/Wireless/Windows8.  Which begs the question, what are they doing shipping a PC with a configuration that is known not to work?

    Good day

    1. Download and update the bios to the latest bios update from http://www.acer.co.za/ac/en/ZA/content/drivers

    2. Download and update latest Atheros Wireless driver to 10.0.0.217.v3 or  10.0.0.221 from http://www.acer.co.za/ac/en/ZA/content/drivers and  http://www.atheros.cz/atheros-wireless-download.php?chipset=60&system=5 respectively.

    Regards,

    Freeza,

I have same problem, I see the Atheros driver, does it matter that on the Acer m5-481PT the wifi chip manufacturer is listed as Broadcom, and Atheros is Qualcomm?  Does Qualcomm write drivers for Broadcom wifi chips? That's like dogs and cats living in harmony Smiley Wink  Just don't want to install the wrong driver

How do you install the wifi driver?  All this does is take us to a place to download them but then there's no help in installing them.

Updating the Bios and Driver doesn't actually solve the problem. In fact, having just done so, I now can't connect to the internet at all!  What is the solution to this common problem?

    fritzphoto,

Please list the system that you have, the operating system,  and which driver version you currently have installed, please.

    I'm having the same problem.
Is aM5 481 PT. With the Wind 8.1 and the wireless network BAD. What caught my attention is that by putting the battery or the HDMI signal was virtually non-existent and although connected with good signal.
I updated the drive to the same as the Acer site, but it was still bad. I restored to factory settings and is even worse.
Video driver and now with network problem. Also I can not install pending updates.
What information in the notebook you need to help me on this?

I have the exact same problem. It is not due to the quality of the HDMI cable either, I have trided a number of differnt cables. If anyone has a solution to this problem it would be much appreciated.

    Thank you
