It seems that NOT ALL of ACER's W510 keyboard dock models EVEN HAVE A BUILT-IN BATTERY!!

So WHERE can we find a list of WHICH W510 keyboard docks HAVE or DO NOT HAVE a built-in battery?

It seems that for whatever reason ACER has decided to keep this IMPORTANT FACT very well hidden!

Please help! Thanks

I see any number of bluetooth keyboards sold for the W510 that don't have batteries, but all the specs for the Acer part include a battery. Where did you buy one that didn't have a battery installed?

Hi and thanks for your reply. I recently bought a W510 with an Acer keyboard dock with built-in battery on eBay. When I received it the battery information in the taskbar showed 2 batteries but only 1 available and charging. The other battery, which I must assume is the one that's supposed to be inside the keyboard dock, shows up as UNAVAILABLE. I did a quick search on the net and some people say that NOT ALL Acer keyboard docks for the W510 have a built-in battery. I can't find any hard evidence that ALL W510 Acer keyboard docks have a built-in battery. Can you confirm that Acer only has a single keyboard dock model for the W510? If that is so is there something I can do to make my W510 recognize the keyboard dock's battery? Thanks again.

My guess is the battery in the dock has been completely discharged. When the battery gets too low it won't take a charge. Do some googling on that and you should find some suggestions on how to 'kickstart' the charge so you can get it charging.

Hi and thanks for the suggestion.

I was just looking through the W510 manual and on page 27 the following is stated which seems to confirm from Acer itself that there are different models of the keyboard dock for the W510 and that some of those models do NOT have the internal battery. However, there is NO info about this anywhere else except for this NOTE in the W510 manual.

    Very perplexing!

That sounds pretty definitive... i suppose they sold some bundles without battery to keep the retail cost down. i wonder if you can add the battery to those?
