Aspire v5-123 windows 8.1 extremely highCPU usage

I bought an Aspire v5-123 with windows 8.1 pre-installed last month, and I still haven't used it at all because of a HUGE problem I am facing.

My cpu ALWAYS worked at 99% without any applications running at all. After some googling, I found out that I should kill this: {svchost.exe Service Host: Local System (Network Restricted)}. So I did and everything went back to normal. But then I realizied that every time I run an application (firefox or task manager - I haven't installed anything else yet), the CPU rises to 98% again for a few minutes.

I have seen that a lot of people have encountered this problem, but none of their solutions seems to work for me.

I would very much aprreciate a solution, since I spent the last month with a useless brand new laptop.

Thank you in advance,

Alexandros

    Hi Alexandros,

We have this FAQ for the V5-122, they're pretty similiar, I"m wondering if the McAfee is causing the same issue. Could you try these steps and let me know it turns out?

    Hope this helps,

Thank you for your fast response Cory.

The first thing I did, was to remove McAfee, because I saw that it was using a lot of CPU. Then I removed most of the applications for the same reason, untill I was left with firefox, windows explorer, and task manager installed on my pc. Then I realized that every time I open a program, the CPU rises to 80-98%. If I stop moving the mouse it eventually goes down to 10-15%. If I start working on the program again, it rises to 98% as usual...

Since you say after stopping the mouse, cpu usage falls, To isolate the issue, try disabling Synaptics touchpad altogether & use a good old mouse with standard win driver. I find in my acer V3 772g also, the Synoptics driver utilizes much CPU, though its not as high as yours.

I read in another post about removing synaptics drivers & using only windows drivers. Will provide link when I find it or if this reply is relevant to you.

From what I've heard is that this could be part of the problem, it was working through a scan, was removed, and there may be a process causing some of this. I might suggest reloading, follow the instruction in that FAQ and see if you notice any difference on a fresh load. If that and the touchpad drivers aren't helping, you may need to contact support and get them involved.
