CONNECTING TO TV

Hi. I want to connect my Aspire 5334 laptop to my Sony Bravia TV. However, I don't have an HDMI point on my laptop so I purchased a VGA cable. I also used a PC audio lead. However, I still can't get any picture on my TV (I'm wanting to watch Netflix via the TV). I can't seen to get the PC input on my TV. Can anybody please help! Thanks!

    Hi,

I actually came on to this site to find some answers for a similar problem.  But I found my answer elsewhere.

I have two Acer Aspire Notebooks.  What I found out was that you hook up the cables first,  (In my case a VGA and and audio plug) and then boot or rewboot the computer.  With my older XP 3613LCi the Windows Bootup screen showed up on the TV and then I saw a message that the mode was incompatable (in other words) then the black screen.  My TV is a Samsung several years old.

I then went through the procedure with my Acer Aspire 5517 and it worked.  The computer has Windows 7.  It worked fine.  After I disconnected, the TV the screen size on teh computer was narrower.  I expect it will be fine after a reboot.

So, it appears that some models will work and some will not.  You can look further in the community for more details if you need it.

I have an Acer Aspire 5517 that I would like to connect to my TV.  What kind of cable do I need?  Thank you for any help you can give me.
