Aspire xc600 will not wake from sleep mode

I have had intermittent issues where the desktop will not resume from sleep. If i move the mouse the monitor wakes from power saving mode up but is just a black screen. The same happens if I hit the power button. I then have to close down by holding in the power button and it may takes several tries before I get back to the Welcome screen. It is also taking a lot longer to boot these days.
I have upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1 but still experience the same issues

Any ideas, please?

    Hi..

It seems to be an issue with the video driver. You may try installing the video driver from this LINK and check for the issue.

Thanks for the link.  The download is called VGA_AMD... whereas I have the Intel HD graphics chip.  Willthis work with Intel?

Unfortunately, no. That's for the AMD video card. For Intel video card, there is no driver available for Windows 8.1. However, you may try installing the Intel driver from this LINK and check if it works for you.

If not you may try updating the BIOS on this computer.

I experienced the same problem also. I think this is the worst PC i ever get. I just bought it a day before.

By the way, any solution for it ?

No resolution. I think it's a combination of a poor operating system - Windows 8 and poor support from Acer. The video driver on the Acer support site is older than the one installed on my system. I tried downgrading to that, but still no better and the driver available on the Intel site will not install because it does recognise the graphics controller. Seems Acer have amended that as well.

    Hi Brian,

Sorry it took us so long to respond, but we are trying to duplicate this issue, could you provide me with the following information in a private message.

    Serial Number:

BIOS version: Helping Finding your BIOS Version

Country: (where you purchased this unit)

Also, if possible, could you try reloading the system back to factor defaults and seeing if the issue of coming out of sleep continue's on a clean load?
