Acer V5 Touchscreen won't do single clicks anymore unless I double tap the screen to "activate" it

my Acer V5-517 touch screen laptop has been working fine up until a few days ago...

Used to be able to only need to tap/single click on anything to either open a link, switch tabs, hit buttons such as OK/Cancel/Start/etc,  click on a dialog box, and so on, but now it doesn't register the single click unless i then tap again for it to register or if it is a new window/tab/menu whatever it may be, it always takes 2 hits of the screen to "activate" it whereas i never had to do that, simpy could just hit anything at anytime and it would register the touch

Tried Error Checking, sfc /scannow, chkdsk, and many other scanning devices and found no corrupted files, no missing drivers, no outdated drivers, even checked the touch drivers and used recovery on it as well, nothing has worked

I am thinking I may need to do Refresh my PC but I would rather try to avoid that

I am running Windows 8

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
