New Acer Aspire V5 very slow.

Hi, I've just set up a friend's new laptop. I'm new to Windows 8 but I'm pretty sure it shouldn't be as slow as it is straight out if the box. All updates are finally done. Had to run the troubleshooter to even get it to update as something needed fixing it told me. But now that's done it is still sluggish. Is this a Windows 8 thing or an Acer thing combined. I have nothing else installed. It's driving me mad. Any help please.

    Hi Dollifer,

Is there a SSD or HDD in the V5.

If there is a HDD in there I might know the problem. There is a problem with WIN 8 that screws around with your hard disk and uses it 100%. This slows down your laptop. I have the same problem with my V3, and I can't seem to fix it for game's. But for all normal programs it works.

This is not my video but I think this would fix your problem. I still think this is a terrible thing, that they can sell stuff like this that isn't working propperly, as I am on the verge of bringing my laptop back to the shop for a refund.

I hope this will help you and that your problem is fixed.

small sidenote. you need windows search to read dvd. It does lower your disk usage, but well, you see the problem.
