i was having touble with kaspesky 2014 and they said send a copy of my kaspersky update logs but when i got to save the file i got a pop up saying i dont have adminstrator rights for this action.

i set up my aspire v5 windows 8 laptop up with adminstrator rights local account when it was new, later on i change the name for the local account and updated to windows 8.1 thats when i lost the admin rights.

is it possible to run a factory restore and set it up so i have administrator rights again.

To reset your PC to windows 8 with Administrator rights you may follow the below mentioned steps :

During the process, all data stored on your computer will be overwritten. This means all your files, such as email and photos, will be erased. Therefore, we recommend you backup your personal data before starting the recovery process.

    1.    Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap Change PC settings. (If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, click Settings, and then click Change PC settings.)
    2.    Tap or click Update and recovery, and then tap or click Recovery.
    3.    Under Remove everything and reinstall Windows, tap or click Get started.
    4.    Follow the instructions on the screen.

Instead of running a full system restore, I suggest you try the following listed down here:

Open the Run box by pressing the Windows key and the R key or Right click bottom LH corner select Run,type "netplwiz" (Without the quotes)
Double click on the user, click on Group Membership, select the user as Administrator, you can also explore here.
    Restart.
