v5 571 will not charge or boot

I last used my v5 571 laptop a few weeks ago. Everything was fine. I got it out of the case last night but did not plug the power adapter in. It would not start. A depleted battery was the obvious choice for beginning troubleshooting. I plugged in the power adapter and connected it to the machine. The charger light is on and green, so I'm getting power. But it will either not charge or something else is preventing booting. I unplugged all peripherals to no avail. After letting it charge for a while (I'm assuming it is charging) it is still not booting. I'm stumped. Ideas or answers, anyone ? Many TIA !

If the plug to the laptop is on the BACK of the laptop, chances are the connector is broken. Normally the connector is soldered to the logic board inside the computer. When moving the laptop by lifting the front, it puts pressure on the plug and connection resulting in a solder break.

Check the connection between the laptop and the plug. If it feels "sloppy" that's your problem. If it's still under warranty you may be ok, but you'll need to send it out for repair. It's not an easy fix because it means that you have to tear the entire laptop apart to get to the part to resolder it.

No, the power supply plugs in to the side of the machine. I suppose a solder connection might still be the problem. I'm looking for other possibilities before I go sending it out for repair. Prices being what they are it wouldn't cost much more to buy a new one. Thanks for your suggestion.
