Liquid E2 poor wifi reception

Just bought the Liquid E2 a few days ago and I must say it's a great phone, much better than my 100 Euro more expensive LG Optimus L7 II. The only issue I'm having is the poor WiFi reception. No, it's not an issue with my wireless router, it is just fine and my LG and Samsung phones get very strong WiFi reception. With the E2, if I go a to the next room, it drops to 2 out of 4 bars. Even in the room where the router is, I often only get 3 out of 4 bars.

Has anyone encountered this issue? I contacted Acer but still haven't got a reply back. I tried various WiFi boosters for Android but they all don't have effect

Thanks :-)

Bars don't give a real value of a signla strenght, you must read real values for comparison.

Actually, they do. Because if I move two rooms away, I cannot accest the internet anymore and no bars are displayed. If I use my LG or Samsung, they have no problem and also report strong signal strength. Yes, I have on all phones wifi analyers

Do you actually have a problem, other than the display? Just checked my phone and in the room with the router I get 3 bars. If I put my phone within 1 foot I get 4 bars but move away and I'm back to 3. If I go to the furthest point away in my house it drops to 1 bar. I'd say your phone is fine and tge "problem" is shared by all E2 users. If you want something to worry about, wait until you start running out of memory! :-)

Yes, I have a problem as I said above. If I move 2 rooms further, Internet drops out due to poor reception. If I do the same with my LG or Samsung, all is fine. Even in my neighbors apartment the LG/Samsung work fine while the E2 is completely useless for internet at that place

This is not an isolated problem as I've read reports on various sites other users experiencing the same issue

That is unfortunate. I probably have thin walls. It is probably a hardware limitation and not something that can be fixed in an update.

Yes it is as I love this phone. Bought it for 150 euro's while my 250 eutro's LG lags like crazy and is not only more expensive but has lesser RAM and only a dual-core low-end CPU from Qualcomm

Can't they do some firmware upgrade on the MediaTek SoC? there are plenty of phones with MediaTek SoCs (some using identical to the E2's MTK SoC) and they don't seem to have the same issue

I experienced similar problems. The problems were solved when I changed my virus app to another. Somehow the previous virus app was preventing the wifi from working properly.

Yes. When I bought the phone some days ago, first thing I did is upgrade it to the latest Acer version.

I've played around with the wireless settings of my router by decreasing some values and was able to increase signal strength a bit when in the same room as the router, but if I go further (few rooms away) it shows the same behavior

it's a strange issue, maybe it's better if you ask for another E2 in warranty or for a check on wifi section, since E2 has a strenght wifi signal.

Thanks for the suggestion but I don't wanna go through hoops in returning it (bought it from a webstore). I tried 2 different routers, an ASUS RT-AC66U (main router) and a TP-Link Archer C7v1. On both routers the behavior is the same

This was my first Acer product I've bought and it will be my last one too. Not just because of this issue but also becaue Acer's support is a joke. I've sent a mail 4 days ago and still haven't gotten a reply

Do You have a virus app? I`m referring to my earlier post.

No, I don't have a virus app. All my computers run Linux so they're not suspecible to viri like Windows is (not saying that viri don't exist for Linux). Also my router, the ASUS one, runs on Linux too.

After a bit of thinking, I'll swap the unit for another one. If this new unit behaves exactly as my current one, I'll know for sure it's a device issue as I've tried many things without effect

Sounds like the same as mine, but good luck.

Got my new unit today. Same problem. After 5 days of waiting I finally got a reply from Acer so their support is not completely hopeless. The support person is trying to help out. I hope this can be resolved with a software update but I suspect it's actually a hardware issue
