I Have the problem sometimes, when cold start machine it states that it is no Boot Disk, i have done some reasearch and faund that BIOS is causing the problem.

The Solution is that Acer should make a update for this issue.

The best thing to do is Press F2 when machine is starting.

Got too Boot menu

Then go to boot mode and set it to "Legacy Bios"

Then reboot and press F2 again.

Change from Legacy bios to UEFI

Save again and reboot, then it will boot normally.

This fault Acer should adress quickly !! I only buy acer machines, and have nevere experienced this problem EVER!

    hi...

Nice to hear that you have got the issue resolved by performing the above mentioned steps.

It would be helpful if we get feedback from others on Acer community if they have resolved the issue by doing the same steps.

The only way is simply to resolve it within the BIOS, reason of this happening is the BIOS are not communicating with the disk during start up. Solution is to let the BIOS wait until the drive is ready, but that ACER have to program intoo the BIOS.

Is this factory-installed Win8 or Win8.1? And does it still occasionally exhibit this cold-boot problem?

Do cold boots in rapid succession seem to work OK? If so, the cmos battery, rather than the bios itself, may be the problem --- either bad battery or it's somehow being quickly discharged. With a drained cmos battery, the bios loses its mind until you power on and simply enter and save exit the bios menu --- don't have to really change any of its settings --- just enter and save exit.

I don't see the battery causing the problem, it happens even at just a reboot when the power is on.

And even when you save the bios, you must boot several times before suddenly the PC is ok again. So it has to be some issues with the disk and bios that are not communicating good enough.

It seems to be set in legacy mode. Have you tried UEFI?

Was this the factory-installed version or did you upgrade to 2.28 from 1.x?

I think it was 1.15 that was there, but it was the same problem with that too.

Something's amiss with either your machine or the firmware. Either way, you should still be within the warranty period and qualify for phone/chat support. If it were mine, I wouldn't mess with it anymore and contact Acer pronto by clicking the above support button, choosing the country and clicking contact Acer with your SNID at the ready.

I discovered this exact fix by myself just intuitively, when fiddling with the bios boot options (my son was really impressed), but then I have many years experience in electronics and computing. The problem does recurr after a few months but is fixed again easily.

Although I was shocked that it was hard to find details of how to solve this when looking for places to post my solution. The title of the thread could be improved to say: Acer V3-771G No Bootable Device Found Problem Solved in 2 mins

    All the best,
