Acer v5 571PG Poor sound quality

Hi there.

Just bought the above machine.

On first day of setting it up I listened to a song on Youtube.  Sounded great (in comparison to my old 2005 Toshiba), and I was excited that once all my music was put on that it would sound good.

I added all my old music files from old laptop (over shared wireless netwrok) and downloaded itunes.

When I played a song on iTunes, it sounded awful - distant, slightly hissy, tinny.  I know iTunes files are low qual, and didn't expect a miracle, but they sounded worse than on my old machine, and quieter too.

I'd put this down to iTunes normally, but since this happened, I have been back to listen to the original youtube track, and that sounded awful too!!  I'd not changed any settings realting to sound etc.

The everday sounds like email alerts etc sound loud and claer, but all music playback seems very poor.

Could iTunes download/ wifi network to old laptop have altered some kind of settings with sound card or similar?

I hope someone can suggest something to help, as I'm toying with doing a system re-start, and I've only had laptop 5 days!  And, since the prob first occured I've switched to windows 8.1 (which took a long time to sort).

I know laptop speakers aren't great, and iTunes fuiles are poor qual, so please, don't need any tips about that! Smiley LOL, it's the sudden drop in qual that i'd like help with.

Many thanks in advance to anyone with any ideas.

Cheers

You might want to spend a bit of time and try to play around with the sound settings in Control Panel. If that doesn't do anything for you, I'd click on support at the top of this page. Click your country. Click contact Acer. You qualify for technician phone and chat support to resolve this issue using your machine's SNID. Do it soon if you don't get anywhere with the sound settings.

    My thanks for your response.

I've had a play, and got some improvement.  It still seems lowish quality, but better than it was.  I've nothing to compare it with to know if 100% improved, but happier for now.

I will contact Acer as you suggest should it drop off again.

Unfortunately we've had a bereavment in the family last night, so i'm unable to communicate much for a while, so please feel free to close this thread should you wish/need.

    Thanks again
