Aspire One ZHG/725-D487 wifi connects to some routers not others

My netbook used to connect to all wifi's but now it only connects to some.  I looked at support page and the driver for the Broadcom is older than the one on the computer ver 6.30.223.102.  How do I install the older ver to see if that fixes the problem or should I do that. I had this problem for about 6 mos now.

Thanks for your help,

Mike

You originally indicated that it used to connect. When it used to connect, was this with Win8 and before upgrading to Win8.1 ?

This problem seem to occure mostly at school on an unsecured network.  It started off working fine in all areas, then working in only some area. Now nowhere.  I've contacted to school IT dept and the techs have looked in to it to no avail.  They can see when it connects to their router but it will not ping to the internet.  They assure me this is the only time they have seen this problem.

It works fine at home and McDonalds and other unsecured locations.

Ask the school's IT dept if their router has been WIFI-configured to fully connect to only certain machine identification codes, aka MICs. MICs are unique ids for each and every computer that the computer broadcasts to routers. Routers can also be WIFI secured without even having to use a password by simply setting it to only fully communicate with specific computers. If IT is using this type of WIFI security, ask them to check the MIC on your machine is the same as the MIC on their router. It's entirely possible that their router electronically burped and forgot your computer's MIC or the wrong MIC was entered into their router, especially if they've recently changed or serviced their router or its settings.
