Hello fellow Aspire One owners! I have one of the original Aspire One netbooks and love it. BUT, I am lead to believe that with the loss of support for XP I am doomed to have no use for my little friend:-(. I've read a few articles and searched for a possible solution and find nothing which seems to be useful. Is ACER itself conceding that I should just trash my little gem and get something else?? Or, is there a (hopefully easy) way to continue to be able to use my Acer One?

I'm still using Win98SE as a virtual on my Aspire One for all my legacy hardware and software that don't work well or at all on the currently-supported Windows versions. Does that answer your question? 8^)

Where can I find a download of Win98se? I've heard that there is a way to download and use Win7 (and maybe Win8) to the Aspire One? Is that true? in any case, I'm a neophyte in regards downloading and making a new or old OS work. I really wish I could just mail the Aspire One to ACER, have them uninstall XP and install something that will work. Am I dreaming?? Thanks for the help.

It depends on the model number of your Aspire One? Some Aspire One netbooks are kinda limited by the amount of RAM etc they have.

At any rate, what are your main concerns about Microsoft no longer supporting WinXP? As long as none of the hardware components inside your netbook go belly-up --- and as long as the Microsoft police don't come knocking on your door and take you away --- WinXP software will continue to work just fine on your netbook after Microsoft support stops --- just like my Win98SE continues to work just fine years after Microsoft stopped supporting it. I just don't get Win98SE updates any more. But I don't care. Because my Win98SE has been working flawlessly all these years without no stinkin' updates. 8^)
