I would like to recover my computer using the recovery IMAGE.

The disk boot but it doesn't give me the option of using MY recovery disks. It only gives factury default restore options.

I have been trying for hour to restore my computer to the image I created when the computer was new that had many of my program including ms word.

Can anyone help?

Thank You. That makes sence. The person that set up my computer a few years ago gave me these disks and I assumed that it was an image. My mistake.

    Hi felpetlin

So you're trying to re-image your computer and not trying to recover it? Windows 7 I presume?

If you made a backup image, did you use the built in Windows Tool (found in Backup & Restore) or did you use a separate, third party program, EG, Acronnis, Macrium Reflect etc? Did you back up to blank disks or an external hard drive?

If you used the built in Windows tool, restart your computer & press F8 continually when you see the Acer logo. You will get the Advanced Boot Screen. Select the "Repair Your Computer" option. You may need to select your keyboard layout and "log in" your account. You will then get a menu of options, called "System Recovery Options". Select System Image Recovery. Follow the on screen instructions. Make sure you select the correct external hard drive location or the location of your optical drive, usually D: or E:

If you used a third party program, you will often have to make a boot disk, which will enable you to load the image you made. Check out the website support page of the particular program you used, as they all vary.

    Thank You for your reply!

The computer boots to my Recovery disk 1. (So the disks must of been made with Acer Backup Manager)

    Acer eRecorery Management (v8.3.2)

    Asks me to select language.

    Then gives me 4 choices:

Restore Operating System to Factory Defaults

Restore Operating System and Retain User Date

Completely Restore Computer to Factory Defaults

         Exit

As you can see there is no option for restore Disk Imagage.

You don't need recovery disks to reload a previously made image. Recovery disks are a copy of your recovery partition. This will allow you to either completely wipe your C: drive and reinstall WIndows from scratch, losing all programs & data stored there. It also allows you to "reinstall" Windows & leaving all you data intact - a bit like a repair-install.

If you have made an image of your hard drive you do not use the eRecovery Management program. Follow the instructions in my previous post on how to do so.

See here on how to use the built in image tool, and here.

    Hope this helps!
