Driver help for Acer Aspire M5-582PT, esp. touchscreen

I recently purchased a M5-582PT notebook.  I was frustrated with win 8, so I wiped it and installed win 7.

I have almost everything working properly except for the wired LAN port and the touchscreen.  For the LAN, I used the Acer tool to find out I have a broadcom brand part, but I'm unable to find the right driver for win 7.  The wireless is Atheron and works perfectly.

I also don't know what brand or make the touchscreen component is, so I don't know where to start looking for drivers.  I also see no devices that might be it in Device Manager.  There is also no "pen and touch" option in the Control Panel.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

For the LAN, I would try any Win7 64bit(?) Broadcom driver from the M5 series

    e.g.:

    M5-581G - 15.0.0.6

Windows 7 has inbuilt support for touchscreens (although 'Windows 7 Starter' can only control the cursor so realistically you could argue that it does not support touchscreens).

Thanks!  The driver you posted worked beautifully.

I have win7 pro, is there a troubleshooting process for the touchscreen?  I can't seem to find anything, and it definitely isn't working.

I figured it out, I hadn't installed the USB 3.0 drivers.  Turns out that is connected to the touchscreen.  Works great now.

    Thanks again!

    That's good news!
It's worth bearing in mind that drivers from other models (and even other manufacturers) can frequently be worth trying. What's important is a driver matches your specific hardware and OS.
    Enjoy Windows 7!!!
