Thanks everyone for the question and answer. I selected therideguy's response as an accepted solutiont to help others.
Just to add...http://store.acer.com is the best placed to go. If eRecovery online sales are not an options in your region, please contact your support team or the store team and they'll be able to help you get recovery media if available.
Also, remember you create your own in Windows. Here's a link to the process: http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/26287

I just chatted with support and was told they could only give me the restore disc that came wih it. That is they could not give me 8.1 recovery when it came with 8.0. I don't think this detail was brought out.

That's pretty much normal. They've spent the money and resources to validate the original build, but haven't done so with Microsoft's newer OS.

Hello, I have upgraded to 8.1 without issue. Sometime after that I tried to do a backup of the hard drive and deleted an empty partion for more room. I just barely got it recovered from that mess. Everything has been working fine as far as I could tell.
Today I tried to make a recovery media with a 32 GB USB thunb drive. It failed with an error of "files missing".
In preperation of reinstalling 8.0, I wanted to copy the drivers and OEM folder. When I looked for the OEM folder it was not in C:\.
I did a search for it and fold an OEM folder in C:\windows\system32\
C:\windows\system32\OEM
22.1 MB
296 files
43 folders1. Could this be the OEM folder that I need to copy?
2. Is there another way to replace that directory?

Hi Kenaced, Did the disks work for you? And did your W3 come with 8.1?
Thanks
