Acer A110 OTG USB?

Greetings!

I have an Acer Iconia A110 tablet with Jelly Bean 4.1.
I ordered an "OTG" USB cable so I could use USB mice, keyboards, memory drives, etc. with the tablet. But nothing happens when it's plugged in. Is there a driver I need or something in the settings that needs to be changed to get it to work?

Thanks!

Hi, I don't know if Acer staff ever read or respond to these forum questions.........,??
However, I've read elsewhere that the USB port on the A110 is slave only and therefore has no 5v output capability so will never drive anything, it can only connect as slave to another device. That said I've run diagnostic apps that report usb host capability so not really sure.
An answer from Acer would be helpful.

Well I did email Acer about 3 weeks ago and they never got back. Maybe I should give them a call.

I have read in reviews where it says OTG works, but it is worded so it sounds like that the reviewer is only guessing.

Thanks for the info though. Smiley Happy

I asked Acer technical support about this a few weeks ago and this is the response I got,

    Dear Customer,

Thank you for contacting Acer America. My name is Harsshan, badge number GWSI1690. I'll be happy to assist you.

    I do understand your concern.

I have checked the unit specification and see that your tablet would not support USB Hub.

For further clarification, please feel free to visit our web site http://support.acer.com/

Thank you for contacting Acer America.

    Have a great day!

    Respectfully,

Well that's lame, why did they go do that? So do you think it is a hardware or software thing? If it's software it can at least be changed.

Have you tried a powered hub ? Most hubs can take a 5v input, at least 2A seems good. I have several and am currently using a Gearhead UH7250MAC  with my W510 and seems to work fine.

Did some owner of the A110 tried this? Is there really no other ways to activate the OTG host mode on the A110? I really want to plug a joystick/gamepad to play some games... do someone know if a pure Bluetooth joystick/gamepad would do the trick to bypass this big USB letdown?
