Creating Bios Bootable Discs

Hi to all,

I know this may seem a basic question but, How do I create a bootable disc (and what files do I include there on) so I can flash my Bios to version 1.16?

I have an Aspire 8920G 'Gemstone' , running Windows 7 64bit, I recently replaced the motherboard, put it all back together and it tries to boot up but stops after about 8-10 seconds. Nothing shows on the screen, it remains blank/black.

I have just bought and fitted new Graphics card, replaced the CMOS battery still nothing ..... I am at the point where I am running out of ideas.

Many thanks in advance

:-)

Do you get an Acer logo screen on powering up? If not, have you tried the Fn+F5 or Fn+F6 display toggles? If the toggles don't yield a display, have you tried to HDMI or VGA out to a TV or external monitor to check that the graphic adapter is working?

    Hi and thanks for answering.

I have tried all you suggested (but not with the replacement Graphics card fitted, only fitted it today lol) and nothing showed on screen. :-(

Well, OK, if the HDMI or VGA out still don't work either then I suggest you dive back inside and re-seat all the ribbon connectors. Do you hear any POST beep codes?

    HI JackE

Finally have it running :-)  I went back to the HDMI in the TV with the new Graphics card fitted and the strange thing is that without connection to the TV via HDMI, I am unable to see boot-up (Bios or options like F2 etc) or the 'Starting Windows' animation it loads with a black screen then goes to the 'Welcome' screen and its visable. But if it is connected to the TV via HDMI i can see everything and even get in to the Bios via the F2 key.

I have tried muliple thing to no avail. Any idea/suggestions

    kind regards

You're getting there. Good work. Now, without the TV or an external monitor connected, and without seeing the logo F2 screen on the LCD, did you try to repeatedly press F2 *immediately* after powering on to try to enter the bios anyway?

OK, try this. Again, without the TV connected, let the thing boot into Windows. Then check what device mgr says about the display adapter --- whether it's properly working, described, etc. If it's OK, then try the Fn+F5 toggle to make sure the screen turns on and off and back on again. Then do a warm restart and see if the logo F2 screen appears.

    Hi again JackE,

device mgr says all working fine.

    Fn +F5/F6 work as should.

Tried the warm restart ....... no F2 screen, nothing until 'welcome' screen.

OK. With the TV, have you looked in the bios menus for anything that doesn't look right to you?

Again, without the TV, do you hear any POST beep codes?

Bios looks fine, there are no beeps either JackE. I even went in to msconfig & devicemgr to check for any irregular settings etc the only thing that was, shall we say strange, was that when you make changes in msconfig, apply them, and reboot, when you look again they are not set as you left them!

    kind regards.
