V3-581TG won't boot after hibernayion

Hello! I used Windows and Ubuntu on SSD, GRUB loader was installed.

I formatted SSD and then Windows came into hibernation mode.

Now GRUB bootloader is missing, and I cant't restore Windows MBR because on powering on my notebook doesn't accept F2, F8 keys to enter BIOS setup or select a drive to boot.

What can I do to fix the problem?

Have you tried to recover Windows?

No, Jack, D2D recovery was not an option because I have some important data on hdd. So I've just opened cover on bottom side, pulled out memory module and shortened clear cmos jumper, then pulled out hdd so my notebook couldn't try to restore from sleep mode anymore. Then powered it on and "Press <F2>...." appeared. So I entered BIOS setup and changed boot order before installing hdd back and then at last booted Windows DVD into boot recovery.

Note that without fixing cover with screws battery might be not charging by some reason.

Let us know how it goes. As for the battery not charging without the screws, maybe just a grounding issue.

Dear Jack, you are right about grounding.

And - yes - now my notebook runs just fine but I wonder what happened if there were unexpreienced user in my boots.

Good. How did you get the bootloader back? BTW, you should've been able to recover Windows without losing your data as an option.

I simply used Windows 7 RTL install DVD, then bootrec.exe /fixmbr ... /fixboot, you know.
