Monitor Dim. Backlight out?

The display on my Acer TravelMate 4010 is very dim.  Settings are for bright.  Technician said it cannot be fixed, but needs to hooked up to a monitor.  Is there any way to get the backlight replaced or repaired?

    Its best to speak to Acer Tecnical department to see if they can still fix it becuase i really doubt that there are still spares available for your machine.

    I have just recently been investigating this problem.  I have the same thing going on right now.  I have been looking at the replacement parts available on eBay and there are many, and the do-it-yourself videos on You Tube are very helpful.  If you think there is a way that you can do it, (if past the warranty period) then this way will allow you to do it at the least cost and you can find the parts.  I do hope this helps even though it is not professional.  I have to do what I can to keep my costs down and I am going this route with mine.  Hope you can get it done and I wish you the best of luck with it.  It is not easy, but worth trying.

    Something like that would take an LCD replacement. I'll look for the part number.

    Found it! Part number is LK.14105.006. you can find this part if you put the part number in Google.
