DVD/CD stopped being recognized.  Troubleshooter states "Windows cannot load the device driver for the hardware.  The driver may be corrupted or missing (Code 39)".  Updated driver from Device Manager and it states "Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date."  What can I do?

Have you made any changes recently, bad connections, etc?  You could try to roll back the driver,  or try removing the driver software completely and then update the driver.  Or, do a system restore. Choice a restore point when you think the drive was working. If the software is correct, then it could be the drive.  DVD drives are one of the last mechanical components found on computers and also the most likely to fail.
