Hello

The laptop model is 5560g, my girlfriend tried update to win 8.1 from 8 and it didn't work so I wanted to a fresh install onto an ssd.

Followed instructions to change hard disk and went throigh the motions , now it starts up says acer with option to f2 into bios and then restarts instantly into a loop constantly showing acer logo about 2 , 3 seconds starts again

from what I see the bar to load says phionex and get so far and starts to loop

Tried putting original drive in , no help. Tried battery out and hold power down no luck and even tried keeping drive out for half hour no luck

Any solutions

    Hi Jimjebus

    I have a few suggestions:

    1. Try going into BIOS and reseting all to default settings to see if that works.

    2. If you're technical, you may like to remove the CMOS battery for a while, then replace it. But this can be very tricky to try on a laptop. Your local PC store should be able to do this for you, if you're not happy to dismantle your laptop.

    3. Try reinserting the original hard drive, and restart your laptop. As soon as you see the Acer logo, hold down ALT & repeatedly tap F10 - this will enable the recovery partition, and should allow you to reinstall the version of Windows that shipped with your PC. Don't forget that everything will be erased....

Sorry for the long delay reply

Option 1 isn't doable as the bios loads about 3/4 up and then stops and laptop resets

Option 2 im thinking off doing

    Tried 3 but no luck

Is there a way to flash bios and if so how because all the googling has shown me is hold esc and FN and power on and it reads a usb or cd with bios which ive tried no luck

Downloaded bios from acer and burn the DOS folder files to disc but no luck as someone says file.fd which I don't have

    Perhaps your BIOS is corrupt.

Contact Acer support who may be able to help you with this problem.
