I recently bought an Acer Aspire 7600U all in one PC. I is running Windows 8.1 (I upgraded from factory installed Windows 8). I am having a lot of issues with the power button and booting up.
Firstly I noticed that when the computer goes to sleep, there appears to be no way to wake it up. Pressing the power button doesnt appear to do anything. From what I can tell from other posts, this seems to be a known issue with no known resolution? So I have turned off the windows setting that controls the computer going to sleep and have only left on the setting to turn off the screen after a period of inactivity.
Secondly, and most importantly, if I shutdown the computer, and leave it for a while (over an hour), when I press the power button to boot up, it makes all the right sort of noises, but the screen doesnt turn on (at least that appears to be what is happening). The only option is to hold the power button down to force it to shutdown and then try again. Sometimes it works the second time, but other times it has taken 4 - 5 goes to get the screen to display anything. When it finally works it detects it wasn't shutdown properly and on the Acer loading screen it does some sort of check.
If I shutdown the computer, and then turn it on soon afterwards, it is fine and the screen loads. So it only appears to happen if the computer is shutdown for long periods of time. It feels like the screen has gone to sleep and is not waking up properly.
Any ideas what the problem might be?
Cheers.
