USB file tranfers to tablet

I have a Windows XP PC and need to transfer files to an Acer Iconia W3 tablet via USB, not wireless.  When connected via a USB cable, neither device recognizes each other.  Am I missing a driver, or do I have to use a thumb drive?

You pretty much need a thumb drive. USB is really setup for a host-client relationship and both ends are hosts.

Just to add, XP to Vista/7 and 8/8.1 is not as easy as just being on the same network. The network configurations are done differently and it's quite a pain. I did it for XP/7 years ago so I know it's possible, but it took me a while to setup, I remember the frustration, I just don't remember the specifics.

If I had to do it again, depending on the size, I'd look at setting FTPs, using USB, maybe even google drive if it's not a ton of stuff.

Thanks for the quick info.  I'll take the simple route and use a thumb drive.
