Let me say this is my first time owning an Acer and may be my last. I have had my acer for less thne a year, my hard drive broke ( no boot device found ) been trying to call there number but they want an ID but the bar code on the bottom is destroyed un readable. So i called support tell the automated system my id is scratched off. I can not get ot a real person to help  me with this. I have boot up into the bios and found the serial number. Why cant i use this or why is this sn id not in the biod where i can alwys get it instead of a barcode on the bottom of a laptop that will surly scratch of. I have a laptop and some tablets from acer if this is there support i will surly never buy one again. Please help.

You and me both!!!  I have just spent several hours trying to talk to a live body at Acer that could actually help.  I have owned several Acer laptops over the years, have purchased them for my kids and now my grandkids.  I have always been very happy with the product.  (I too wish they would put the serial numbers etc.. somewhere other than on the bottom of the laptop).

As a diehard Acer customer I have to admit, my opinion has rapidly wained over the last year and particularly with my "NEW" laptop.  It absolutely SUCKS.

I have had BIOS resets several times, numerous "Refresh" and complete Restarts and nothing seems to fix the problems I have with this particular laptop.  E1571-6471 (8g/1TB, 2.5GHz and I5-3210M processor).  My old I3 laptop was much faster than this one.

I have had endless problems with "connectivity", Programs being partially lost, Overheating, screen freezing, crsr freezing, files disappearing, files not saving, slow speeds, sticking keys, Exporting documents, downloading updates or a program, icons disappearing and blank space showing where a document should be, flashing and blue screens.  It goes on and on.  I had this professionally set up and returned to the store to get help so many times they were sick of seeing me.  They were very helpful and frequently commented "I have never seen this before", but once my 'return if your not satisfied' date passed, I was on my own.  I feel like an ***** for not returning it before then.

I had to get Microsoft help so many times, even their top engineers tried to resolve the endless problems with the programs not working right.  I got the "special" treatment because I had just bought Office 365 University and they were very interested in problems that occured from that.  Ultimately they told me I had a "Twain" problem, Main Board, Problem, Processor Problem and there was nothing more they could do.

I have endless "connectivity" problems with the internet and even my Server who provided new routers, modems, 4 in home service calls ultimately told me - "It's your Device".

I had to purchase new Office 365 (was using Office 2010) and new Norton 360 as I had installed these programs so many times and removed them so many times Norton and Microsoft suggested buying new ones in case the initial programs had become corupted.  More money down the drain.

I reluctantly sent if off to Acer for repair to Acer (I had lost one before that was shipped so preferred to try and get help closer to home).  They replaced the Main Board, Upper Case IMR, Keyboard Darfon Tm7T, HDD, Foxconn wireless Lan - all in a laptop less than 6 months old.

I just received it back 2 days ago and have spent since then trying to get the darn thing running.  It of course had some windows updates to do and this resulted in the Windows O/S being deleted off the laptop.  (More time on the phone with Microsoft).  Got that going and it would not connect to the internet.  I have been on 4 times with Rogers Internet and they have re-configured, reset, etc..... everything and still the laptop will not connect.  You guessed it - again I am told "It is your Device".

I called Microsoft back again and explained to them the problems, they tried, but told me - "It is your laptop".

I have spent the last 4+ hours trying to get a live body to talk to at Acer without success.

The person who took the details of my laptop for repair put Jan instead of JUN down for purchase month so the system thinks my warranty is expired and keeps re-routing me to a 3rd party service center.  I have been given numbers for Texas (live in Ontario), have called every 1-800 number I can find on Acer and still get re-routed because my laptop is thought to be out of warranty.  I am so frustrated it is not funny, I am literally on the brink of NEVER, NEVER, NEVER buying another ACER product as long as I live and will not purchase them for my kids or grandkids again.

Have you tried to chat with an agent through the support page for Canadian purchases?

as soon as you go on here you get a request for a Serial Number/SNID * Required this is the same as the phone. in other words you cant reach anyone with out this number. I boooted into the bios to see if i could get it in there like dell no good. This is the worst customer support. I def wil never buy acer again. They are thinking a little paper barcode is gonna be on there a year later? its almost as if they are doging support.

Found a solution, i am buying a new laptop and its NOT gonna be acer. Too bad why looking at acers they look nice and good deals but the support is the worst. if i ever see a review on the web for now on stright 1's for acer. You guys need to get your support fixed. Would not cost much to have someone on the phone tell me something even if i need to pay for a new hard drive i would like to know and have a person talk to me not a machine ask for a number i can not get. Total fail Acer. Bye no more tablets no more pc's
