im rather desperate for help at the momemt. I tried the danish Acer support but frankly they are horrible. I got a brand new Acer Aspire V5-573G and it has the combo jack thingy. I've bought 3 adaptors now and none of them seem to work. Two of them are identical. One of them works abit, meaning that it registers my mic and headset, but the wire seems to be defect so it makes a horrible noise when im talking to people. The other cable that is identical does not work at all, and my mic wont get recognised at all. I have updated the sound driver. Can you help me? Do I need a USB adaptor or just a proper one for the jack/mic input? I hope you can help me.

Can you provide some additional information about what you are attempting to connect to the system?

Specific brand/model may help with links or pictures of the jacks.

Hi, and thank you for getting back to me. Sorry for the VERY slow response. This is one of the adaptors which I tried. http://www.avxperten.dk/adaptere/audio-adapter/headset-adapter-til-iphone-(mikrofon--hoejttaler).asp
The first one was completely useless, the second they sent me kinda worked, but with loads of static, and what seemed to be faulty wirering. I also tried a USB adaptor which failed, but I suspect that was because of poor quality. Is there anything you can recommend? It has now been months and im still using my internal mic, which isnt too bad, just not on par with a proper headset! Hope you can help. Smiley Happy

One of the things that I really am unable to do is recommend a specific piece of third party hardware.  We are unable to endorse things that we have not tested and approved.

There are a lot of adapters out there and the SteelSeries Siberia V2 headset should work fine with the system, but it may be dependant on what is available in your area, and what the headset may support as well.

I have seen others report that a simple connector, something like this ( http://mycablemart.com/store/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=5059 ) may work, while you are obviously having difficulty with something similar.

I'm sorry that I cannot be more specific with offering an opinion on a piece of hardware to help in this situation.
